“Verily I say unto you, in as much as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.”
If truth be told we have all had either a family member, or know of someone that has been afflicted by one of the the many forms of cancer that exist in today’s society. I for one, am no different. In the past 30 years I have watched my Grandmother, (4) Uncles from both sides of the family, an Aunt and even my Father succumb to bowel, liver, lung and pancreatic cancers respectively. May they rest in peace. More recently, in November of 2015, I visited with my Mother in St. James Hospital in Dublin, where she had a procedure to remove 3/4 of her tongue, affected by an aggressive form of cancer. I am happy to say that she has made a full recovery. As I observed the recuperation process of removing muscle from the inside of her forearm, grafting it onto the tongue, reconnecting blood vessels under the tongue and essentially growing a new tongue, I felt compelled to do something and to give back. An induced coma, a lengthy rehab and several months of speech therapy, have allowed for her to regain the ability to speak, like nothing ever happened.
As a result I have researched my options and have made a conscious decision. On behalf of Best ValuDry LLC, and it’s related entities, I will donate 2% of ALL invoices upon completion of the project, to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). I have chosen to work with BCRF for good reason, as they donate a total of 91 cents from every dollar to breast cancer research and awareness programs, the highest percentage of any charity. There are many other charities from which to choose, and some are even better known. However 6 figure salaries for executives, and a million dollars a year in donor funds to sue other groups, if they don’t own the phrase “for the cure”, contribute to the leading Charity donating a whole $0.11 of your dollar to researching a cure. It is my hope that you will join me on this journey, whereupon collectively we can donate to a great cause in memory of one of your loved ones.
It is my wish, that if we can first find a cure for breast cancer, the leading cancer in the US today, that somewhere in the very near future, what we learn can help cure the other adult and childhood cancers that cut short the lives of so many of our loved ones, way too early. With all that said I recall as a young child, my Grandmother telling me that we are all just passing through. If that is indeed the case I implore you, let’s not just leave…..let’s leave it better.
